LED Light Giveaway
I recently got asked if I'd like to giveaway some gorgeous purple LED Christmas Lights. Of course I said yes. I love decorating for holidays. And while purple isn't a traditional choice, they are just perfect for my absolute favorite holiday which is Halloween. LED lights are fantastic. They are much brighter than regular lights, last a lot longer and also use hardly any energy.
I could have picked the more traditional white or even pink but I think the purple is fantastic. Miss Rosie thinks so too. We already have some purple LEDs that we use to decorate for Halloween. And some orange ones and some that look like eyeballs. I'm excited to get to give away a package of these great lights.
Christmas Lights is what Holiday LEDS sells and my goodness do they have a huge selection. Pretty much any kind of light you can think of can be found here. They have lights that look like snowflakes, stars and even black cats. And these awesome spiders I just found. Which are really blurry when you make the picture big. :)
So you get the idea. If you need a specialty light Christmas Lights is the place to look for them.
Now on to the giveaway. One reader will win a package of purple LED lights. Contest will run 4/16-4/23.

Rendezvous Rock By Rickey Bray + Giveaway
Renedezvous Rock caught my attention right away. I knew that I would love reading it because of the writing style. I was drawn in through the words. Few authors live up to their potential, but Bray is truly a wordsmith. I was glad to exercise my own vocabulary.
The world building is exquisite. As a reader being dropped into a complex world with unique circumstances, in this case witches, can be daunting. Some novels fail because their worlds are not introduced properly. Yet, Bray does it seamlessly. I found myself in the shoes of Eric. Mesmerized by the girl, Susan and wanting to know all about her reality.
She draws him into a religion through a binding or marriage of sorts. She knows where he fits into her world and the book follows them after he is truly set onto his path. He discovers his place in a world where power is real. He is the typical layman having been raised with an overbearing mother and we get to see him grow.
As the front cover states, witches are never young. You learn why as the religion of The Three Circles is revealed. The characters are concerned not only with the past and present but with the future as well. We get heroes that think about not just changing the present but seriously considering the aftermath as well. Unlike most stories, which end and you think to yourself: "So, they saved the world, but then what would happen? Aren't they left with more problems?" This is not one of those stories, the ending is quite decisive leaving no loose ends.
Of course, there are twists and turns along the way. The book may seem long to some, but the details suck you into this alternate reality. Certainly, you'll want to block off a few hours of time to devour this book. You'll want to keep reading it, or in my case loose track of time while doing so. I look forward to reading Bray's next book.
The Author's Bio:
Rickey Bray, from Marlow, Oklahoma, became a writer after a series of personal tragedies. Following a car accident involving a drunk driver and the death of his wife and two children, he turned to drugs for consolation which eventually resulted in twelve years of incarceration, a life altering experience that resulted in the start of his writing career and his debut novel Rendezvous Rock.

Tastes from Home with Frito-Lay Recipe Contest and Give away!
Tastes from Home with Frito-Lay
Recipe Contest and Giveaway
These chips were inspired by popular American regional cuisine and include:
1. Northeastern U.S. – Lay’s Honey Mustard
2. Midwestern U.S. – Lay’s Creamy Garden Ranch
3. Northwestern U.S. – Lay’s Balsamic Sweet Onion
4. Southwestern U.S. – Lay’s Chipotle Ranch
5. Southeastern U.S. – Lay’s Cajun Herb & Spice
· All of the Lay's Regional Flavored potato chips are made with all natural ingredients and cooked in healthier oils, like corn and sunflower oils, which contain 80% or more of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat - the "good fats." They also contain 0 grams of trans fats per serving!
· There’s also less sodium in them than you might think – a 1-oz serving of our Lay’s Regional Flavored potato chips contains less salt than a plain bagel!
Although I'm not a big potato chip eater, the two flavors I would like best are the Midwestern US Lay's Creamy Garden Ranch and the Southeastern US Lay's Cajun Herb and Spice.
Originally being from the Midwest, corn has always been a big favorite in my family. I remember getting fresh corn late in the summer from Ethel's fruit market which no longer exists here in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. And while we never made chowder with it, I do remember how great it always tasted. So here is my take on a slow cooked Midwest corn chowder. It's great in that you can throw everything into the crock pot and just walk away. In a few hours you'll have a wonderful corn chowder which will bring back the memories of summer.
Slow Cooked Midwest Corn Chowder
1 can (14.5 oz) creamed corn
1 C frozen whole kernel corn, thawed
1 1/2 C (12 oz can) evaporated skim milk
1/2 C fat free half and half
2 C diced cooked potatoes
1/2 C chopped red onion
3 pieces turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4-1/3 C mashed potato flakes
salt and pepper to taste
Spray slow cooker with cooking spray. Combine corns, evaporated milk, half and half. Stir in potatoes and onion. Add bacon and mix well to combine.
Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or on low for 4 hours. Potatoes should be fork tender when done. Add potato flakes to thicken chowder when potatoes are cooked through. Salt and pepper to taste.
